Overview

Shop Vector is an embedded Shopify application engineered to route, shield, and transform webhook events before they reach your downstream architecture. By provisioning dedicated pipelines, you can capture specific transactional hooks and safely stream them to external endpoints—complete with automated rate-limiting, custom payload remapping, and hardened security protocols. A note on Slack. You can point a pipeline straight at a Slack Incoming Webhook URL—no extra authentication is required, since Slack authenticates via the secret in the URL. Richer, templated messages (composing values into a formatted string) are available on the Scale and Enterprise plans.

How It Works

Every event Shopify fires for your store lands on a single, dedicated ingress endpoint. Shop Vector verifies it came from Shopify, holds it in an encrypted buffer, and then hands it to your pipelines. Each pipeline listens for one webhook topic and forwards matching events to its own destination—remapping the payload, authenticating the request, and metering the delivery rate along the way.

Because every pipeline reads independently from your store's own buffer, a single Shopify event can fan out to many destinations at once, and each destination gets exactly the shape, credentials, and throttle it needs.

Core Concepts

Term	What it means
Ingress URL	The single endpoint Shopify calls to deliver webhooks for your store. Shop Vector registers the webhooks against it for you automatically as you add pipelines — no manual setup in Shopify.
Event buffer	An encrypted, transient stream that holds incoming events. It absorbs traffic spikes and preserves events during downstream outages so nothing is lost.
Pipeline	A rule that listens for one Shopify topic and forwards matching events to one destination. Multiple pipelines can run independently off your store's buffer.
Topic / trigger	The Shopify event type a pipeline reacts to (e.g. orders/create, products/update).
Destination	The HTTPS endpoint a pipeline forwards to—your ERP, 3PL, WMS, finance tool, or any internal API.
Remapping	Optional, no-code transformation of the payload into the exact JSON shape your destination expects. See Mapping Notation.
Back-off	Automatic, incrementally spaced retries when a destination returns an error or rate-limits Shop Vector.

The Delivery Lifecycle

When a pipeline forwards an event, Shop Vector tracks the outcome and retries failures automatically. Events stay in the buffer for up to three days, giving your destination time to recover from an outage before an event is discarded.
